24 Before 25 Update

Remember how I made a list of 24 things I'd like to accomplish before turning 25? I thought it was time for me to check in and report on how I've been doing with them. I have to admit, I'm actually pretty impressed with what I've accomplished in the past 2 1/2 months. Because completing goals as rigorous as "make homemade donuts" are worth celebrating ;)

Read at least one book a month for fun
So far I've been averaging 3 books a month so I'm feeling right on track with this goal. This month I've read a biography of Queen Elizabeth II and The Outliers, and I'm currently finishing up Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?. I recently discovered a Blogger Book Club that's going on over at The Scribble Pad and think I may join in the discussion next Tuesday... (if only because I've already the book for January :) Ha!) Join me?

Go on a vacation, just the two of us
Checkity check! Jordan surprised me the same day I made this list with a trip for two to Boston for my birthday. We had such a fun time and definitely want to plan more just-for-two adventures.

Get a full-time job
Check, check, check. I've been at my job for a few months now and it's it feels a lot more comfortable. I'm terrified of starting a new job and I'm happy those first couple of awkward months are behind me (I think? Maybe? Probably not.) I also added a few pictures to my bulletin board so that it looks like a human being actually works there.

Make homemade donuts
Completed! As of yesterday, actually. I woke up early on my day off and made these delicious baked pumpkin donuts with chocolate glaze. I may have eaten 20. But they're mini, so that's like the equivalent of 2 normal-sized donuts, right? Nod your head yes.

Read at least 10 cookbook
Five down, five to go. My favorite so far is definitely Miette's book all about baking the perfect cake. Jordan bought me a copy of the book for Christmas after I'd drooled all over the copy I'd checked out from the library. My next goal is to try making the same cake several times so that I can actually master it. My problem is that I always try making a cake just once and then dismiss the recipe as stupid because my cake crumbled and there wasn't enough frosting. Maybe this will help me learn patience?

Take more pictures of the two of us
So far so good. I made sure to have a ton taken over Christmas when I knew Jordan's resistance would be weakened. Now I've got to come up with other sneaky ways to trick him into documenting our life together...

Change all credit cards and forms of ID to Lysenko
I went to the DMV Friday when I had a half-day off of work, and although it was a soul-sucking experience with dementors and everything, I waited the 2 1/2 hours and got a NY license with Lysenko printed on that bad boy. Then promptly bought donuts to congratulate myself. (There's been a lot of donut eating going on. I regret nothing.) I've been dreading this goal the most and I'm hoping the excitement of accomplishing it will propel me into changing all my credit cards to Lysenko as well. Here's hoping?

  1. Changing credit cards is the easiest one! I haven't tackled the DMV yet. My driver's license expires in a month, so I guess I'll be forced to change it then. You can do it!
